The nominees for the 2022/23 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award, and other categories have been revealed, in a ceremony which will take place on 31th of August, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
The UEFA technical study group drew out the final list, following a series of observation of the players who featured in the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League respectively.
Erling Haaland, Kelvin De Bryne and Lionel Messi have being selected in the three man shortlist for the Men’s player of the year, while Pep Guardiola, Roberto Mancini and Luciano Spaletti compete for the Coach of the year award.
Haaland and De Bryne won the treble with Manchester City last season,while Lionel Messi won the world cup with Argentina last year December in Saudi Arabia.
In the coaching category, Guardiola coached City to a treble, leading the club to it’s first ever champions league trophy, while Roberto Mancini got to the champions league final, and Spaletti won the Serie A with Napoli.
Other categories are, Best goalkeeper,defender midfielder and forward, while we still see awards for the UEFA best goal of the season and best fans’ goal of the tournament.
