Veteran Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, has called on the federal government for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Nnamdi Kanu, who is an indigene of Isiama Afara Ukwu, Umuahia, Abia State was arrested in Kenya on the 27th day of June 2021, and was later extradited to Nigeria where he is facing trial at the facility of Nigeria’s secret police, the SSS, in Abuja.

The reason for his arrest, according to the former Attorney General of Nigeria, Abubakar Malami, is due to the unrest in the South East caused by Ipob, a group that he is a leader of.

Lot of calls have been made to the new administration in the country for his release, and Mrs Rita Edochie has decided to throw her weight around her tribesman.

Rita Edochie, who is also a South Eastern knows the extent to which Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest is causing alot of unrest in the region, and she is calling for the intervention of the Federal Government.

59 year-old Rita Okwudili Edochie is married to Pete Edochie’s younger brother, and she was born in Onitsha, Anambra State.
