    Nollywood loses Cynthia Okereke to the cold hands of death

    It’s yet another sad news in the Nigerian film industry, as 63-year-old Cynthia Okereke has died in the early hours of today, according to an announcement made by retired actor and YouTuber, Joseph Okechukwu.

    This tragic news comes exactly one year after she was kidnapped alongside her colleague, Clemson Cornel Agbogidi, while they were both returning from a movie set in Ozalla, Enugu state.

    Although the cause of her death is still unknown, close friends say she has been battling with an underlying health condition.

    The Enugu State-born actress and producer joined the movie industry in 1998, and her contribution to the industry has earned her lots of accolades, where she won several movie awards in Nigeria which include, Most Promising Actress in Nigeria at the City People’s Entertainment Awards, Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards and Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

    Other Nollywood stars who have also passed on this year are, Ms Peace Anyiam- Osigwe, the founder of AMAA, Chief Sunday Akanbi Akinola, Femi Ogunrombi (Papa Ajasco), Favour Agiounim Daniels, Chief Ojo Arowosafe (Fadeyi Oloro), Saint Obi, Popular Yoruba actor, Murphy Afolabi amongst others.
