Mr Olayemi Cardoso has been confirmed as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, following the screening that took place at the plenary on Tuesday, which was headed by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

1) He has a honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from Aston University in Birmingham.
2) He started his banking career with Citibank, where he eventually rose to the post of the bank’s Vice President.
3) Mr Cardoso also co-founded Citizens International Bank, where he served as an Executive Director for eight years.
4) Under his leadership at Citibank Nigeria, he increased the bank’s revenue to 308.3%, and total revenue grew by 235.6% during his stewardship.
Mr Olayemi Cardoso, whose parents are descendants of Brazilian returnees, is a Lagosian, who had his primary and secondary education in Lagos, and he is married with five children and three grandchildren.
