Spain’s FA president, Luis Rubiales has resigned from his position this morning, following the continuous public outcry after kissing player, Jenni Hermoso.
The kiss which happened during the trophy presentation in Australia, after the Spanish Women Football team won the trophy ahead of England, has since sparked lots of controversies, with alot of high profile members of the team calling for his resignation.
Rubiales had remained defiant despite a public outcry, claiming the kiss was “mutual” and was adamant he would not quit his role, but in an interview with Piers Morgan, he confirmed his resignation, “of course I cannot continue my work”, he said.
33 year-old Hermoso filed a case last week Tuesday, after she said the kiss wasn’t consensual, as she wants the court to come to her defense.

Reports have it that Rubiales’s mother, Angeles Bejar played a huge role in him deciding to finally resign, after she went on a hunger strike in protest, locking herself in a church.
