Following the sad news that broke yesterday evening about Mohbad’s death, alot of people have sent thier condolences to his family, as they pray that the Almighty gives them the fortitude to bear the loss.
On Instagram this morning, his wife, Wunmi on her handle, c33why, blames depression and continuous fear for the cause of her husband’s death, as she indirectly point fingers at his colleagues in the industry.
Today, we would take a look at five celebrities in the entertainment industry, who have openly admitted to have fallen into depression.
(1) Harrysong
Harrison Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, shocked his fans on the 5th day of September 2018, when he posted on Instagram, saying “Don’t cry (when) I die. Celebrate, put up a kingmaker concert, and empower more youths. I have lived. I have done my bit; carry on in grace.”
(2) Tonto Dikeh
Controversial Nollywood Star, Tonto Dikeh opened up in 2020, on her struggles with depression, and how music producer, Don Jazzy, and music executive, Tee Billz, ‘rescued’ her from committing suicide.
(3) Deyemi Okanlawon
Veteran and most sort after Nollywood Actor, Deyemi Okanlawon shared with his friends how playing the lead role in the movie series, ‘Blood Sisters’, messed with his mentality, as it took him ample time to get over the role.
He played ‘Kola Ademola’ in the movie, where he known for always beating his wife, until she died in the process on thier wedding ceremony.
(4) Omah Lay
Afrobeats superstar, Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay granted an interview few years ago, where he spoke about his struggles with depression.
“I was at the verge of…I was suicidal, mahn. Trust me, I was really fcked up. But I think I have to be there to actually help the people who are there right now to get out of that place. I mean it will take a real person like me to go there and then make music out of it and talk about it so openly how I’m a mess, how I think and how I’m fcked up and everything,” he said.
(5) Solidstar
Joshua Iniyezo, popularly known as Solidstar was seen in a viral video recently, roaming the streets of Lagos barefooted. His brother came out to admit his brother has been battling with mental illness for a while after his career nosedived since he released his last single in 2016.
Depression is a real issue out there. It is a mental illness that can be treated when you are aware of this illness, and visit a physiatrist to get help. Try to talk to someone today, so you don’t die in silence.
