The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a N5billion palliative to each state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
This announcement was made yesterday evening, after the statutory meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC), which was chaired by Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
Since the fuel subsidy removal on the May 29 inauguration ceremony, Nigerians from all works of life has lamented over the incessant increase in the prices of goods in the market, which has created undue hardship in the country.
The Nigerian Labour Congress had to call off it’s protest twice after several meetings with the President, and things have not been easy so far.
The Federal Government have now responded to the outcry of it’s citizens home and abroad, as it has approved a palliative of 5billion to each state, including the FCT.
Although, there was no announcement on how the money will be shared, and to whom it will be shared to, as Nigerians are waiting to see the outcome of this development.
